Smile like you mean it...
Today I went to harrow to pick up some things for work and for the party next friday. There were people from a well known charity stopping passers by "selling" the charity and asking for money. What do you do when you see this going on? If you are asked to stop and have a minute what do you say? I would really like to know. Today I stopped and listened.
I chatted to a guy called adam who told me about what the charity were doing. He told me of stories of little girls in third world countries and how little it would cost to help them out. He seemed like a cool guy. Truth is I am skint, but then isnt everyone? I stopped for another charity a couple of months ago, I think its nice to chat to them and hear whats going on as I know it must be a hard job. They're decent people. Today I explained about my uni course (and how extortionate it is) and the volunteer work I had done in the past. This guy was more forcefull, keeping eye contact the whole time, he really wasn't taking no for an answer. I did make my way onwards though, politely thanking him and hopefully saying maybe in the future. It has made me think though. Think about how much I forget about other stuff going on. How much should I be doing?
Before I came to uni I did two gap years, of which I paid to do volunteer work, something I immensley valued, and also like to think did some good whilst I was there, so was beneficial for those whom I was working with. I have continuely helped out with youthwork and summer camps for free, and volunteer as a counsellor as part of my placement? I'm no saint, I assure you, but one person can't help everyone right? Where would you draw the line?
While writing this I have been thinking, if I can't pay to help each month, its good to remember and to remind myself atleast to pray for them. This is something I will ponder, I know there's the whole tithing thing too, but I'm not being paid, I'm actually having other people generously support me through uni!

Cookie cutter
Tonight we baked cookies.
My mother gave me a 100 piece cookie cutter set which I was really excited to be using.
However we ended up making sticky cookie dough which saddened me slightly as we didnt get to use the cutters.
Feast your eyes on these though.
The cookies didnt look like this but did taste amazing.

Hobbies?
So I like to think I am quite organised and do alot of things.
Sometimes I feel like theres so much I could do but Don't make the most of time. I would like to spend more time on my photography, I would like to spend more time on making videos. More specific time. I hope to make time to do this. I think it would be fun to do. Maybe I shall put my explorations of this on here. My sister asked me the other day who my favourite photographers were, I couldnt answer properly, I would like to be able to. Here's to researching and exploring and trying out these new things hopefully. Investing in hobbies? IS that what you call them?
Here's a video i made last year with my friend kirsty. the ending im not so pleased with, but to be geeky, i like some of the shots and transitions between them.
do you like cheese this much?

People and times. and community and painting and friends and fun
This evening despite starting the day not feeling very well I find myself excited for the coming week. Starting tomorrow I'm seeing old friends, family and beginning birthday celebrations, even though my birthday is not for a couple of weeks.
However short piece of trivia for you, I was born two weeks late, so today would have been my birthday had this not been the case.
I'm liking the little community we have at the moment in our part of the world. Having people to stay, people over for dinner, people feeling free to pop in, having an open house, having girly nights, cooking, baking, deep and meaningful chats, eating ice-cream and watching bridget jones, taking photos of such events.
Life, painting rooms, helping each other out. and having fun whilst doing it, and the fact that it comes naturally, everyone is happy to be a part of it and include one and all.
What made today wonderful do you ask?
Maybe I will.
Feast your eyes on these beautiful people.
Despite business and far too much to do, today is a happy day.
Lucy, kiki and myself, fellow housemates.

Clothing £1, at your local pound shop, bargain.
American boy. Very very special fellow.
To be seen in the next issue of Ideal homes. (student edition)

- I spent the morning chillaxing and watching pointless programmes such as smallville on the tv.
- My sister came over for lunch and brough lovely things to eat. I very much delight in spending time with her. We giggled and watched movies and chatted.
- Lucy came home from work, a pleasure in itself, but she called on the way to inform me that it was compulsery we got into our pj's and watched bridget jones with ice-cream ( it definately helped me to feel beter)
- Ben dropped by for a visit, mr everything is fixable! I havent seen him for a while which was funtimes. we played with my new remote control robot. oh yes. ROBOT.
- This evening conversations were had regarding parties occuring next week. EXCITED.
- now i'm speaking to pleasant people on the internet and watching funny things.
Maybe I will.
